Rebecca"Gemma designed and organised the refurbishment of our dream cottage in North Dorset, delivering a scheme that was perfectly in tune with the balance of old and new we were looking for. The beautiful, calm and artistic interior is somewhere you simply don't want to leave. It was a pleasure working with Gemma to create it.”

Taking cues from the beautiful countryside location, we embarked on a full renovation of this historic cottage, enhancing the building’s inherent charm while introducing a sense of quiet refinement and comfort. Conceived as a place to slow down and reconnect, the interiors encourage a gentler pace of living, celebrating the changing light, surrounding landscape and simple rituals of everyday life.
Natural materials and tactile finishes run throughout the interiors, creating a layered scheme that feels both grounded and serene. Antique pieces sit comfortably alongside contemporary elements, balancing heritage character with contemporary living.
Working closely with skilled artisans, we introduced handcrafted details throughout the home. These include hand-embroidered linen, a woven rush headboard and a hand-finished engineered oak floor with a gently aged patina, each adding texture and individuality to the scheme. The surrounding landscape is subtly echoed in a curated collection of art commissions across textiles, paper, canvas, ceramics and stone, bringing a sense of nature indoors.
Sustainability was also an important consideration. Wherever possible, existing elements such as cabinetry and sanitaryware were retained and thoughtfully updated. New cupboard fronts, natural floor finishes, brassware and carefully considered lighting breathing new life into the home while reducing unnecessary waste.
The result is a peaceful retreat that feels both timeless and deeply connected to its setting.
