An award-winning restoration that celebrates the quiet beauty of a Grade II-listed Georgian farmhouse through thoughtful planning, natural materials and restrained detailing.
Working within the constraints of a Grade II-listed Regency farmhouse, we undertook a sensitive restoration that celebrated the building’s architectural heritage while adapting it for contemporary family life.
Our first priority was to improve light, flow and the relationship between spaces. By opening the entrance hall to the rafters and introducing a pair of roof lights, we transformed the arrival experience, while reconfiguring a series of smaller rooms created generous bedrooms and a principal suite with a dressing area and bathroom.
Natural materials honour the house’s rural setting, with flagstones, linen drapes, jute rugs and reclaimed pine floorboards creating a warm, tactile backdrop. A palette of muted greens, earthy pinks and stony neutrals echoes the surrounding landscape, while handmade paints crafted from natural pigments add subtle depth and allow the walls to breathe. Reinstated Georgian shutters frame long countryside views and reconnect the interiors with their setting.
A restrained mix of contemporary furniture, timeless mid-century classics, artisan-made pieces and carefully sourced antiques creates a home that feels both enduring and deeply personal, celebrating the character of the original building without competing with it.
The restoration was named Best UK Residential Project Under £1 Million at the 2025 SBID Awards. It has also been featured in Homes & Gardens and the books Country Retreats by Beta Publishing and Bringing the Outside In by Abi Dare.
